Celebrating college graduates who were in foster care with foster nation

10% of foster youth go on to college and less than 6% graduate. That is why we were overjoyed to celebrate 30 college graduates! It was not just a great party, but also a resource fair with USC Credit Union there to give financial advice, Staffmark with job recruiting, COOP Careers offering career + tech fellowships, Stepping Forward LA with Housing and Paid Internship opportunities, and Celebrity Photographer Brian Bowen Smith providing incredible headshots. Volunteers helped decorate, wrap presents, wrote heartfelt cards, assisted during the event, and gave advice on resumés and interview coaching.

Foster Nation empowers foster youth to live their best lives through transformative connections and essential resources through their Sparks program and more! They were wonderful partners in throwing this event!

We’re grateful for all who attended and supported from afar. Thank you to our favorite venue The Bungalows Long Beach, our volunteers who gave their time and expertise, to our in kind donors, Nothing Bundt Cakes and Stone Soup Project LA for dessert, Hungry Girl and Dr. Sarfraz Zaidi for donating to the gift bags, Carly Jean for making sure our grads looked sharp in nice clothing, and to those who supported us financially! We could not have done it without all of you!
